Crochet baby mittens...a work in progress

Hmmm....maybe I'm onto something...fingerless may be more practical for feisty little ones like mine you do NOT like their little digits to be confined.
Amazing how much difference different lighting can make!

Happy Fall!!

Newborn pumpkin hat for those fall babies...

Loving the "pumpkin color"...makes me dream of pumpkin spice lattes...
Ahhh...the days of the pacifier...she retired that (unfortunately for us, but fortunate in the long run) at around 3 months.
See how happy she looks?!  :)

Another new yarn...for a boy or girl

I'm really liking the hint of green...
Can't wait for our Vegas summer to truly turn to fall!

OK so I call this my boy blue but looks pretty cute on a little girl too!
I'm really digging chunky yarn this time of year...

I love yarn...

Especially the smell...I'm not sure how to describe it...but one of my cats smells like yarn.  And, it won't the first time I've been called weird!  ;)

Caramel apples

Yep, I decided on caramel apples for favors instead of little bags of stuff that would just clutter someone 'else's' house...I figured the apples could be eaten and then they'd be gone! Viola...no junk to add to the already endless piles of stuff us parents already have!  :)
Granny smith apples ready to be dipped!
So shiny and pretty...this was the easy part!
The dipping was not.  After I realized that my kitchen was going to be a chocolate covered mess it went much smoother.

A hat I made...

Look at that little face!!  Does it get much sweeter?  My own would never have been so complacent...even after a big does of "milk shop"!

Dana does awesome work!  She's based in Las Vegas but also does quite a bit of work in Northern California and I believe a bit in Southern California too!  Check out her work: Urban Vision Studios

O glorious food!

Anyone who knows me...knows that my first love is FOOD!  :)  I can eat all day.  Being born and raised in the Napa Valley I was a bit spoiled when it comes to "good" food.  As soon as I turned 15 I started working in restaurants and my love of food only grew and grew!

I have to admit these days I prefer to cook at home...not only does it save us money but we get what we want, how we want it; you can find a recipe for just about anything you have in a restaurant and duplicate it.  We've perfected quite a few of our favorites and are more happy enjoying them in our own home, at our own pace...especially since we have a rambunctious little one year old!  Restaurants just aren't the same as they once were before the days of trying to placate a baby!  :)

So yes, this is a craft blog...but undeniably you will find food posts and recipes 'snuck' in here and there!

New Blog: Joy the Baker

Avocado Pound Cake
Vegan Chocolate Avocado Cake

My daughter's first food was avocado...so I'm a bit partial to the fruit.  I've been wanting to use avocado in baking for quite some time now...

I admit...it doesn't look all that appealing...but hey, looks aren't everything...right?!

A little avocado facts:
Avocados provide nearly 20 essential nutrients, including fiber, potassium, Vitamin E, B-vitamins and folic acid. They also act as a "nutrient booster" by enabling the body to absorb more fat-soluble nutrients, such as alpha and beta-carotene and lutein, in foods that are eaten with the fruit.

I'm hooked...I want some!!

Adorable!
 I need a tutorial...
Mind you I'm not good with a sewing machine but for this cuteness...I'm up for the challenge!
I'm loving the green...maybe just a little pink over load at times with having a girl...I love seeing alternatives to the traditional, quite over used, pink!

Paper Flowers

How cool are these?!  And from old magazines...I'm addicted to re-using items I already have...I'm on a buying strike.  Here's the tutorial on Frugal Life Project: Cute Rolled Paper Flowers
I'm in awe...
How cute on homemade cards...speaking of which I realllly need to get out some thank-you's for my daughters first birthday this last weekend.  It's been nagging me every other second!
This is just awesome...what else can I say.
